An awards scheme developed and judged by young people from the British Youth Council to encourage and celebrate effective youth participation. There are four categories of award and four chances to go for them during 2013. The next deadline is 25 November.
The Make Your Mark ballot is for 11-18 year olds to decide what Members of Youth Parliament should debate and vote to be their campaign for the year ahead. More than a quarter of a million votes were countedin the ballot!

A great project from Mencap which gives a voice to young people with a learning disability or communication difficulty, especially in planning and designing the services they use. It provides advice and support, including a specialist area of work with young offenders affected by learning and communication difficulties.

Enshrined in law
The United Nations Convention on Rights of the Child (1989) states that children and young people have a right to have a say in things that affect them (Arts 12 & 13). We need to support them in that (Art 42).
Under the Childcare Act 2004 (amended 2006) local authorities have a duty to listen to the voices of children and young people who they provide services to.
